Rollaway Risk2025–2026 Maverick HybridNHTSA 25V863 / Ford 25C69
Integrated Park Module May Fail to Engage Park — Rollaway Risk
On certain 2025–2026 Ford Maverick Hybrid trucks (along with 2022–2026 F-150 Lightning and 2024–2026 Mustang Mach-E), the integrated park module (IPM) may fail to fully lock into the Park position when the driver shifts into Park. The pawl can bind against a nearby slider, preventing it from returning to the fully engaged position. The vehicles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) 114, "Theft Protection and Rollaway Prevention." A loss of Park function can allow the vehicle to roll away on inclines if the parking brake is not also engaged. Approximately 80,468 Maverick Hybrid trucks affected, built April 11, 2024 through November 17, 2025 (272,645 vehicles total across the campaign).
The park module software is updated over-the-air (OTA) or by a dealer, free of charge. Software targets the Secondary On Board Diagnostic Module C (SOBDMC) to ensure correct Park engagement. Interim notification letters mailed February 2, 2026.

Instrument Panel Cover May Detach During Air Bag Deployment
On certain 2025–2026 Ford Maverick trucks, the occupant-facing passenger instrument panel door of the front passenger air bag (PAB) may separate from the airbag chute door when the air bag deploys. The defect was discovered during a Ford-internal test on October 15, 2025 and traced to insufficient weld adhesion between the instrument panel topper and the airbag chute door at a Tier-1 supplier facility. If the air bag deploys in a crash, the detached instrument panel cover can become a projectile and increase the risk of injury to occupants. Approximately 6,897 vehicles affected (Ford expects roughly 1 percent of trucks in the population have the defect).
Dealers replace the instrument panel cover, free of charge. Recall reported December 18, 2025.

Hybrid Powertrain Software May Cause Unexpected Shift to Neutral — Loss of Drive Power
On certain 2022–2024 Ford Maverick Hybrid trucks (and 2020 Escape Hybrid), a software defect in the Hybrid Powertrain Control Module (HPCM) can cause the vehicle to unexpectedly shift into Neutral while driving. A loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash, particularly in highway traffic or when accelerating to merge. The recall was reported December 18, 2025.
Dealers update the Hybrid Powertrain Control Module software, free of charge.

Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Valve May Fail — Loss of Drive Power
On certain 2025 Ford Maverick trucks (along with 2025 Ranger, Lincoln Nautilus, Mustang, Explorer, Escape, Lincoln Corsair, Bronco Sport, and Bronco), the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve may fail, resulting in an unexpected loss of drive power while driving. An unexpected loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash, particularly in highway traffic.
Remedy is currently under development. Interim notification letters mailed March 20, 2026; final remedy letters anticipated September 2026. Affected VINs became searchable on NHTSA.gov on March 4, 2026.

Engine Block Heater May Crack and Short Circuit — Fire Risk When Plugged In
On certain 2022–2024 Ford Maverick trucks (and various 2016–2024 Ford and Lincoln vehicles including Explorer, Escape, Bronco, Bronco Sport, Ranger, Fusion, Lincoln MKC, and Lincoln Corsair), the engine block heater may crack and develop a coolant leak. When the block heater is plugged into household power, the coolant leak can cause an electrical short circuit and increase the risk of a fire. Approximately 59,006 vehicles affected. Owners are advised not to plug in their block heater until the vehicle is remedied.
Dealers replace the engine block heater, free of charge as parts become available. Interim notification letters mailed December 3, 2025; final remedy letters anticipated February 2026.

Occupant Classification Sensor May Misclassify Front Passenger
On certain 2025–2026 Ford Maverick and Bronco Sport vehicles, the Occupant Classification Sensor (OCS) in the front passenger seat may fail to accurately distinguish between an adult and a child. The OCS determines whether and how the front passenger air bag should deploy in a crash. The defect causes vehicles to fail compliance with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) 208, "Occupant Crash Protection." Approximately 3,170 vehicles affected across both models. Affected VINs became searchable on NHTSA.gov on April 2, 2026.
Dealers will service or replace the Occupant Classification Sensor, free of charge.

Integrated Trailer Module May Lose Communication — Loss of Trailer Brakes and Lights
On certain 2022–2026 Ford Maverick trucks (along with 2021–2026 F-150, 2022–2026 F-250 through F-550 Super Duty, 2024–2026 Ranger, 2023–2026 F-600 SD, 2022–2027 Lincoln Navigator and Expedition, and 2026 E-Transit), the integrated trailer module (ITRM) may lose communication with the vehicle while towing a trailer. Loss of communication can disable trailer brake lights, turn signals, and trailer brake function, violating FMVSS 108 "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment." Approximately 4.3 million vehicles affected across the entire campaign.
The integrated trailer module software is updated by a dealer or via over-the-air (OTA) update, free of charge. Owner notification letters mailed March 25, 2026.

Maverick Recall FAQs

Common questions about Ford F-150 recalls, your rights as an owner, and what to do next.

How do I check if my Maverick has an open recall?

The fastest and most accurate method is to enter your 17-character VIN into the checker at the top of this page, which queries the NHTSA database in real time. You can also check directly at nhtsa.gov/recalls or Ford's own recall tool at ford.com/support/recalls-details.

Your VIN is found on the lower left corner of your windshield (visible from outside), on your driver's door jamb sticker, or on your registration and insurance documents.

Are Ford Maverick recall repairs free?

Yes — all safety, compliance, and emissions recalls are repaired at no cost to you. Parts and labor are covered by Ford through any authorized Ford dealership, regardless of whether you are the original owner or purchased the truck used.

If you previously paid out of pocket to fix an issue that was later tied to a recall, you may be eligible for a refund. Ask your Ford dealer or contact Ford Customer Service at 1-866-436-7332 for reimbursement details.

Do Ford Maverick recalls ever expire?

Safety, compliance, and emissions recalls do not expire. Ford is required by federal law to repair these defects free of charge regardless of the vehicle's age or mileage, and regardless of how many owners the truck has had.

Customer Satisfaction Programs (which are separate from safety recalls) may have time and mileage limitations. If you are unsure whether something is a safety recall or a CSP, ask your dealer or check NHTSA.gov — only official safety recalls appear in the NHTSA database.

Can I still drive my Maverick if it has an open recall?

It depends on the severity. Most recalls allow you to continue driving while awaiting a repair appointment — the risk is present but not immediate. However, some recalls carry a "Do Not Drive" or "Park It Outside" warning from NHTSA, meaning the vehicle poses an immediate safety risk and should not be operated until repaired.

Always read the full recall description for your specific truck. If in doubt, contact Astro Ford or Ford Customer Service at 1-866-436-7332 for guidance specific to your VIN.

How will I be notified about a recall?

Ford is required by law to mail notification letters to all registered owners of affected vehicles once a recall is announced and VINs are confirmed. These letters identify the defect, the safety risk, and instructions for getting the repair done.

You can also proactively sign up for alerts through the free NHTSA SaferCar app or via Ford's recall notification sign-up. Because mailing lists depend on vehicle registration, used truck buyers may not always receive letters — this is why checking your VIN directly is important.

Which Maverick model years have the most recalls?

Because the Ford Maverick only launched for the 2022 model year, its recall history is shorter than older Ford trucks. The 2025–2026 Maverick model years carry the highest concentration of campaigns, including the integrated park module rollaway recall (25C69, 80,468 hybrid trucks, FMVSS 114), the instrument panel cover detachment recall (25V884, 6,897 trucks), the EGR valve loss-of-drive-power campaign (26S10, 2025 Maverick plus many other Ford and Lincoln models), and the occupant classification sensor compliance recall (26C19, FMVSS 208, shared with Bronco Sport).

The 2022–2024 Maverick Hybrid is also affected by the Hybrid Powertrain Control Module software recall (25V881) which can cause unexpected shifts to Neutral. The 2022–2024 Maverick is part of the engine block heater fire-risk recall (25SA4) covering ~59,006 vehicles across multiple Ford and Lincoln models. The 2022–2026 Maverick is also covered by the integrated trailer module software recall (26C10).

According to iSeeCars analysis published in 2026, the Maverick has been one of the top-five most-recalled Ford models — consistent with launch-year platforms historically seeing more recalls as Ford works through early production issues. A high recall count does not mean the truck is unreliable; it means defects are being identified and remedied at no cost to owners.

What's the difference between a recall and a Customer Satisfaction Program?

A safety recall is a federally mandated action where Ford must fix a confirmed safety defect at no cost, with no expiration date. These are filed with NHTSA and appear in the official recall database.

A Customer Satisfaction Program (CSP) is a voluntary Ford initiative to address quality issues that do not rise to the level of a federal safety recall. CSPs often have expiration dates and mileage limits, and they do not appear on NHTSA.gov. Your Ford dealer can check your VIN for any open CSPs when you bring your truck in for service.

How long does a recall repair take at the dealership?

It varies widely by the nature of the recall. A simple software update — whether dealer-applied or delivered over the air — can often be completed in under an hour. More involved repairs like replacing a brake booster, rear axle assemblies, or engine components may require several hours or a parts order if inventory is limited.

When you schedule your recall appointment at Astro Ford, our service team can give you an estimated completion time based on the specific recall and parts availability.

Can a recall affect my Maverick's resale value?

An open, unrepaired recall can negatively affect resale value, and in some states dealers are legally prohibited from selling a vehicle with an unrepaired safety recall. Getting recalls repaired promptly — and keeping documentation — actually protects your truck's value.

A completed recall has no negative impact on resale value, and in many cases demonstrates that the vehicle has been properly maintained. Always provide recall repair documentation when selling your F-150.
