Frequently Asked Questions
- How often should I change the oil on a Ford Maverick? The Maverick hybrid uses conventional or synthetic blend oil with the 2.5L Atkinson-cycle engine, typically changed every 10,000 miles per the IOLM. The 2.0L EcoBoost requires full synthetic SAE 5W-30, also guided by the IOLM at 7,500 to 10,000-mile intervals.
- Does the Maverick hybrid need different maintenance than the EcoBoost? The hybrid powertrain adds a few unique items: high-voltage battery coolant inspection, electric motor system checks, and CVT fluid service. Brake pads typically last longer on the hybrid due to regenerative braking. The EcoBoost model has turbocharger-related considerations and uses an 8-speed automatic instead of a CVT.
- When should the CVT fluid be changed on a Maverick hybrid?Ford considers the eCVT on the Maverick hybrid a sealed unit with fluid designed to last the life of the transmission under normal conditions. There is no scheduled CVT fluid change interval in the owners manual. If you tow frequently with the hybrid, consult your dealer about early inspection.
- What maintenance does the Tremor package add?The Tremor off-road package does not change basic engine or transmission maintenance intervals. However, the lifted suspension, larger tires, and off-road use may increase wear on suspension bushings, ball joints, and wheel bearings. More frequent tire rotations are recommended with the all-terrain tires.
