The 2026 Escape Active comes standard with the 1.5L EcoBoost I3 engine producing 180 hp. The Escape lineup offers four powertrain choices across the trim range.
1.5L EcoBoost I3
Standard on Active and ST-Line. Turbocharged 3-cylinder with auto stop-start. Lightweight and efficient for everyday driving.
2.5L Hybrid
Standard on ST-Line Select, Platinum, ST-Line Elite. Pairs 2.5L I-4 with electric motor and CVT. Best fuel economy without plugging in.
2.5L Plug-In Hybrid
Standard on Plug-In Hybrid trim. FWD-only. Charges via 120V or 240V outlet. Drives all-electric for daily commutes.
2.0L EcoBoost I4
Optional on ST-Line Select, Platinum, ST-Line Elite. Most powerful engine in the lineup — performance choice over hybrid efficiency.

FWD Standard
Front-wheel drive is standard on Active and ST-Line trims. AWD is available for $1,400.
AWD Standard
All-wheel drive comes standard on the upper three non-PHEV trims, paired with 2.5L hybrid for efficiency without sacrificing all-weather capability.
FWD-Only PHEV
The Plug-In Hybrid is FWD-only by design. 37 miles all-electric covers most daily commutes before gas engine kicks in.

Every 2026 Escape includes Ford Co-Pilot360 (Pre-Collision Assist with AEB, BLIS, Lane-Keeping, Auto High-Beams, Driver Attention), an 8-inch SYNC touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, dual-zone climate, proximity keyless access, and one year of Ford Connectivity Package included.
Four powertrains: 1.5L EcoBoost I3 (180 hp, std on Active/ST-Line), 2.5L Hybrid (192 hp, std on Select/Platinum/Elite), 2.5L Plug-In Hybrid (210 hp, std on PHEV), and 2.0L EcoBoost I4 (250 hp, optional on hybrid trims for +$1,125).
Up to 3,500 lbs when equipped with the 2.0L EcoBoost engine and Class II Trailer Tow Package. Other engine configurations tow between 1,500–2,000 lbs. The Class II Trailer Tow Package is not available on Active or ST-Line trims.
The 2026 Escape is unavailable for new purchase in California, Massachusetts, Oregon, New York, Washington, and Vermont due to tightening emissions standards. It is available in Mississippi, Alabama, and other Gulf Coast states.
The 2.5L Hybrid is a self-charging hybrid (no plug needed) with 192 hp and ~39 MPG combined. The 2.5L Plug-In Hybrid adds a larger battery for 37 miles of all-electric range plus 101 MPGe combined — you charge it via 120V or 240V outlet for daily commutes, then fall back to hybrid mode for longer trips.
