About The Program

Built For Electric. Backed By Ford.

Ford EV Certified is the certification tier purpose-built for fully electric Ford vehicles. Unlike a standard CPO inspection, the 127-point checklist is tailored to high-voltage systems — charging components, eDrive (electric motor and single-speed transmission), high-voltage service disconnect verification, battery state of charge and instrument cluster lifetime summary review.

Each EV Certified vehicle includes a 12-Month/12,000-Mile Comprehensive Limited Warranty covering more than 1,000 components, plus an 8-Year/100,000-Mile BaseCARE EV Limited Warranty covering the high-voltage battery, eDrive transmission and other EV-specific components. BaseCARE coverage is measured from the original Ford New-Vehicle Limited Warranty start date.1

A CARFAX Vehicle History Report is part of every certification. Vehicles with reported flood damage, fire damage, frame damage or severe high-voltage pack damage cannot be EV Certified.

The 127-Point EV Inspection

Tailored For High-Voltage Systems

The 127-point inspection focuses on the systems that matter most for an electric Ford — high-voltage battery health, charging components, eDrive operation and EV-specific thermal management — in addition to the body, suspension, brakes, tires and interior checks shared across all Ford Blue Advantage tiers.

High-Voltage Battery & Pack

Severe pack damage check, vehicle instrument cluster lifetime summary review (battery health history), state of charge at delivery and battery cooling system verification.

Charging System

Charging components tested through two separate verification stages, AC and DC fast-charging port inspection and onboard charger function under load.

eDrive (Motor & Drivetrain)

eDrive mounts inspection (not cracked, broken or oil-soaked), CV joints and CV joint boots, single-speed transmission operation and electric motor function.

High-Voltage Safety

High-voltage service disconnect verification, isolation testing, high-voltage cable integrity inspection and 12-volt auxiliary battery condition check.

Brakes & Regenerative System

Friction brake pad and rotor condition, brake fluid, parking brake and regenerative braking system operation under varied driving modes.

Thermal Management

Battery and motor cooling system inspection, coolant condition and capacity, plus heating system modes verification (heat pump or resistive heater operation).

Body & Exterior

No evidence of flood or fire damage, no major or hail damage, body panel inspection, bumpers, doors, hood, decklid, tailgate, roof, glass and outside mirrors.

Interior, Tires & Suspension

Cabin condition, seats, sunroof, tires and wheels match (correct size, type and tread depth, normal wear, proper pressure), TPMS, control arms, tie-rods, struts and shocks.

Safety, Electronics & CARFAX

Airbag system, seat belts, infotainment and audio, alarm and security systems, owner’s manual, keys and remote controls, plus a CARFAX Vehicle History Report.

FAQ

Ford EV Certified Questions

Answers to the most common questions about the Ford EV Certified tier of the Ford Blue Advantage program.

Ford EV Certified is the dedicated certification tier of the Ford Blue Advantage program designed for fully electric Ford vehicles. To earn EV Certified status, a fully electric Ford must be less than 6 years old with fewer than 80,000 miles, pass a 127-point inspection performed by Ford factory-trained technicians and clear a CARFAX Vehicle History Report. Each EV Certified vehicle includes a 12-Month/12,000-Mile Comprehensive Limited Warranty covering more than 1,000 components and an 8-Year/100,000-Mile BaseCARE EV Limited Warranty covering the high-voltage battery, eDrive transmission and other EV-specific components.

Any fully electric Ford up to 6 years old with under 80,000 miles is eligible for EV Certified, provided it passes the 127-point inspection and CARFAX check. The most common EV Certified models at Astro Ford are the Ford Mustang Mach-E, the all-electric F-150 Lightning and the E-Transit commercial van. Hybrid and plug-in hybrid Fords are not EV Certified eligible — those route to Ford Gold Certified instead.

The 127-point inspection is tailored to electric vehicle systems. It covers the high-voltage battery and pack (severe pack damage, instrument cluster lifetime summary review, state of charge, cooling system), charging system (two stages of charging component testing, AC and DC charging port inspection), eDrive (motor, single-speed transmission, eDrive mounts, CV joints), high-voltage safety (service disconnect verification, isolation testing, HV cable integrity), regenerative and friction brakes, thermal management (battery and motor cooling, heating system modes), body and exterior, interior, tires and suspension, plus safety systems including airbags and seat belts. Any item that fails is repaired or replaced with a factory-authorized part before the vehicle is offered for sale.

EV Certified vehicles include two layers of warranty coverage. The 12-Month/12,000-Mile (whichever comes first) Comprehensive Limited Warranty covers more than 1,000 components and begins after the original Ford New-Vehicle Limited Warranty expires or on the EV Certified purchase date, whichever comes later. The 8-Year/100,000-Mile (whichever comes first) BaseCARE EV Limited Warranty is calculated from the original Ford New-Vehicle Limited Warranty start date and covers the high-voltage battery, eDrive transmission and other EV-specific components. Both warranties are backed by Ford Motor Company.

BaseCARE EV coverage protects EV-specific components for 8 years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first, from the original Ford New-Vehicle Limited Warranty start date. Coverage includes the high-voltage battery pack, eDrive transmission (the single-speed transmission integrated with the electric motor) and additional EV-specific systems. While your vehicle is still within the original Ford New-Vehicle Limited Warranty period, repairs come at no out-of-pocket cost. Once that coverage ends and BaseCARE takes over, a $100 standard deductible applies per repair visit.

BaseCARE EV coverage is tied to the vehicle’s original Ford New-Vehicle Limited Warranty start date and follows the vehicle for the duration of the 8-year/100,000-mile term. See your Astro Ford dealer or the full Ford Blue Advantage EV Certified Limited Warranty document for transferability terms specific to your vehicle.

Battery health is evaluated as part of the 127-point inspection. Ford factory-trained technicians review the vehicle instrument cluster lifetime summary — which tracks long-term battery health and usage history — perform a state of charge check at delivery, verify the high-voltage cooling system and inspect for severe pack damage. Vehicles with reported severe pack damage on a CARFAX Vehicle History Report or evidence of severe pack damage during inspection are disqualified from EV Certification.

EV Certified is reserved for fully electric Fords and uses a 127-point inspection focused on EV systems, paired with a 12-Month/12,000-Mile Comprehensive Warranty plus an 8-Year/100,000-Mile BaseCARE EV Warranty covering the high-voltage battery and eDrive transmission. Gold Certified is for non-electric Fords (gas, diesel, hybrid, plug-in hybrid) and uses a 172-point inspection paired with a 12-Month/12,000-Mile Comprehensive Warranty plus a 7-Year/100,000-Mile Powertrain Warranty covering the engine and transmission. Both tiers require vehicles up to 6 years old with under 80,000 miles, are backed by Ford Motor Company and include 22,000 FordPass Rewards Points, 24/7 Roadside Assistance and the 14-Day Money-Back Guarantee.

Complimentary Ford Roadside Assistance is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year throughout the warranty period. For an EV that runs out of charge, Roadside provides towing to the nearest Ford dealer or charging station. Other services include 12V auxiliary battery jump-starts, flat tire changes, lockout assistance and fuel delivery for non-EV-related stops. See your dealer for a full list of included services and any per-service fees that may apply outside the complimentary period.
