Frequently Asked Questions

  • How often should I change the oil on a Bronco Sport?
Both the 1.5L and 2.0L EcoBoost engines require full synthetic SAE 5W-30 oil. The Intelligent Oil-Life Monitor typically indicates changes every 7,500 to 10,000 miles under normal driving. Off-road use and frequent short trips may shorten this interval.
  • Does the Bronco Sport Badlands need different maintenance?
The Badlands trim uses the more powerful 2.0L EcoBoost and has a twin-clutch rear drive unit (different from the standard AWD system). The rear drive unit fluid should be inspected on the same schedule, but the twin-clutch mechanism may benefit from earlier inspection if used frequently for off-road driving.
  • When should the cabin air filter be replaced?
Ford recommends replacing the cabin air filter every 20,000 miles under normal conditions, or annually in dusty environments. The Bronco Sport cabin filter is located behind the glove box and is straightforward to replace at any service visit.
  • Is the Bronco Sport AWD system maintenance-intensive?
The standard AWD system requires minimal maintenance. Ford considers the rear drive unit fluid sealed for the life of the vehicle under normal conditions, with inspection at 150,000 miles. Vehicles used for frequent off-roading or towing should have the fluid inspected earlier at 60,000 miles.
