How F-350 Maintenance Has Changed

2023-Present
5th Gen — All-New Super Duty Generation

Complete redesign with 500-hp 6.7L Power Stroke diesel, new 6.8L gas V8, and available 7.3L Godzilla. SRW and DRW configurations continue with class-leading towing up to 40,000 lbs.

2020
10-Speed Auto & 7.3L Godzilla Engine

Major update brought the 10-speed TorqShift for diesel models plus the 7.3L Godzilla V8 gas option. DRW models gained improved payload ratings.

2017
4th Gen — Aluminum Body Panels Generation

All-new Super Duty platform with high-strength steel frame and aluminum body. F-350 SRW and DRW both available with 6.2L Boss V8 and 6.7L Power Stroke diesel.

2011
3rd Gen — Ford-Built 6.7L Diesel Generation

Ford introduced its in-house 6.7L Power Stroke V8 diesel with 400 hp. The 6.2L Boss V8 replaced the Triton gas engines. DRW payload capacity increased significantly.

2008
2nd Gen — 6.4L Twin-Turbo Diesel Generation

Redesigned Super Duty with the 6.4L Power Stroke replacing the 6.0L. F-350 DRW became the go-to platform for commercial and heavy-towing applications.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How often should I change the oil on a Ford F-350?
Oil change intervals mirror the F-250 since both share the Super Duty platform. Diesel models follow 7,500 to 10,000-mile intervals with full synthetic oil, while gas engines typically use 5,000 to 7,500-mile intervals. DRW models used for heavy commercial work should lean toward the shorter end of these intervals.
  • Is there a difference in maintenance between F-350 SRW and DRW?
The engine and transmission maintenance is identical between SRW and DRW configurations. The key difference is in the rear axle and wheel bearing service. DRW models have additional wheel bearings to inspect and service, and the dual rear wheels require more frequent rotation patterns. DRW models may also wear brake components faster under heavy loads.
  • When should the diesel fuel filter be replaced on an F-350?
The F-350 diesel has a two-stage fuel filtration system. Ford recommends replacing the fuel filters every 15,000 to 30,000 miles depending on fuel quality and generation. The 6.7L Power Stroke (2011+) has a primary and secondary filter, both of which should be replaced simultaneously. Water-in-fuel sensor alerts should never be ignored.
  • Does the F-350 require different tires or rotation schedules?
DRW F-350 models use six tires and follow a different rotation pattern than SRW trucks. Ford recommends rotating tires every 10,000 miles on both SRW and DRW. On DRW models, the inner and outer duals should be swapped side-to-side, and the front tires rotated to the rear outer positions. Tire pressure on DRW models is critical for even wear and safe towing.
